With an impending graduation from the Arcanium and honors to be awarded, Caedyn felt ensured that nothing would stand in his way to greatness. As a young boy, Caedyn dabbled in magic, striving to be the best and increasing his knowledge of the world around him. At times, this thirst for knowledge came at a price for the family pet, appropriately named ‘Singe,” but the wounds healed and Caedyn never stopped his quest for learning. This in turn led Caedyn on his path to learn at the Arcanium and become an advisor to the royal family, only fate had other things in mind.
The youngest of three children, Caedyn learned very early on that it was kill or be killed in this world. Having the knowledge of a dark-elf, he knew that life was potentially difficult for the race and it was important to fight for what was yours. This mentality began at the youngest of years when Caedyn and his brother Misha, whom he repeatedly picked on for having a girl’s name, tormented their sister in the ever-going power struggle between siblings. As the youngest, Caedyn did not want to seen as weak, so he did everything within his power to keep the scales tipped in his favor. This played to Caedyn’s advantage, as his parent’s had big plans for him to train at the Arcanium and serve the royal family; a tasked viewed as honorable and held in high regard.
By late childhood, Caedyn thought he had it all. He was a leader and had proven himself as an asset worthy of training to serve for the royal family. He continued to embrace his knowledge of the arcane and continued to expand his knowledge of the world around him. One day, Caedyn decided to explore the lands near his home, so he packed his bags and snuck out under the cover of darkness. It was not long however before Caedyn realized that he was not yet ready for the dangerous world before him. Just outside the city, Caedyn found himself face to face with a group of orcs ready to dismantle the young student. Carefully examining the situation at hand, Caedyn knew the only way out was to fight. Utilizing his knowledge of the magic he had been learning throughout the years, Caedyn fought the orcs. Realizing that if any were permitted to get close enough, he would likely be killed, Caedyn ensured a safe distance between him and his foes. In a three-on-one battle, Caedyn reduced their numbers, starting with the smallest and soon it was just Caedyn alone in the darkness, or so he thought. While setting up camp for the night, Caedyn was ambushed by a small orc waiting for the right moment to strike. Tired from the previous encounter, Caedyn was unaware of his tiny foe and soon a dagger was plunged into the dark-elf’s back as well as another blade that cut across the left side of Caedyn’s face.
Bloodied and beaten, the young warlock fell to the ground. He thought for sure that this would be his last moments on Avaden. As luck would have it however, his brother charged through the darkness and battled the orc. Thankful that his brother came to his aid, Caedyn vowed to be by his brother’s side through thick and thin. Tired and weary from the fight, Caedyn and his brother went back home. Though displeased with the decision to adventure out alone, the family was glad to have Caedyn back in one piece. Caedyn however would not forget this experience, nor the help he received by his brother. The wounds healed, but left a scar as a permanent reminder.
In the coming years, Caedyn continued his path to train at the Arcanium. He was the top student, excelling at whatever task he took on and graduation was soon around the corner. Caedyn remained close with his brother and on the evening of graduation, the two were attacked by a small group of would-be assassins. Reliving the adventuring days Caedyn and Misha made short work of the dark-elves; however, this event would foreshadow the events taking place at home with the fall of the royal family and the boy’s own.
With a new ruler back at home, Caedyn knew he could not return as the advisor he was training to be. It was for this reason that Caedyn decided to follow his brother on his current orders. Not knowing whether his family was dead or alive however, Caedyn vowed to one day venture home and return order to house. In the meantime however, the young warlock felt compelled to venture forth with his brother, learning what he could about the world around him and continue to expand his knowledge of the arcane. Driven by the thought that one day he may restore order to his home, Caedyn ventured out in hopes of finding similar-minded people with a thirst for knowledge and riches-seeking to aid him in his quest.
